Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Cook Jackson | Eastern North Carolina Now

   Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Cook Jackson, age 73, a resident of Washington, N.C. died Saturday, June 23, 2012.

   Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at First Christian Church, 401 E. Second Street, Washington, N.C. conducted by Dr. Michael Price. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The following will serve as pallbearers: Larry Colwell, Don Dunlap, Larry Hyde, Paul Malloy, Ansell MacMillan, and Aubrey Moore.

   Mrs. Jackson was born in Hopewell, Virginia on November 3, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Alderman Cook and Daisy Elizabeth Collier Cook. Mrs. Jackson was raised in Hopewell and graduated from Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Va. Nancy was active in her community as a member of the Washington Yacht Club serving as the Advisor to the Commodore from 2005-2012, Commodore of Cruising from 2005-2006 and Photographer and Scrap Bookkeeper for several years; the Pamlico Sail & Power Squadron, serving as Secretary 2009; Lifestyle Water Aerobic Group; the Tea and Topics Book Club serving as the Corresponding Secretary 2010-2011 and Secretary 2009-2010; Belhaven Yacht Club, Cobb Island Yacht Club serving Fleet Captain in 2004; International Order of Job’s Daughters, Past Grand Sr. Custodian, Maryland, Past Bethel Guardian #62, Maryland, Past Honored Queen #24, Virginia and an active member of the First Christian Church.

   Mrs. Jackson was a Personnel Specialist in the Office of the Inspector General, Department of Defense. She retired January 1, 2000 with 20 years of service. Mrs. Jackson resided in Port Tobacco, MD for 35 years raising her family.

   On July 27, 1957, she married Robert Alphonso Jackson, Jr., who survives.

   Surviving with her husband are her children, Catherine Elizabeth Edmondson (Steven) of Petaluma, CA, Robin Denise Fowler (Roy) of Hortense, GA and Robert Alphonso Jackson III of Nashville, TN; her siblings, Wayne Cook of Hopewell, Va., Kenneth Cook of Redding, CA and Terri Simmons of Hopewell, VA; her grandchildren, Nicholas Hupert (Angela), Lucas Edmondson and Jocelyn Edmondson and great grandchildren, Kameron Hupert, Abigail Hupert and Kaylee Hupert.

   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence “Sonny” Cook.
