   Samuel Alfred "Buddy" Brickhouse, III, 48, a resident of 3190 NC Hwy 92 East, Washington, NC, went to heaven after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 24, 2012.

   A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 27, 2012 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service and will be conducted by Curtis White. Burial will follow in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. George Chrismon, Tommy Ormond, Dwayne Woolard, Wayne Woolard, Jay Morgan, Reuben Braddy, Luis Ramirez and Luis Costella will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.

   Buddy was born in Norfolk, VA on December 28, 1963 to the late Samuel Alfred Brickhouse, Jr. and Cynthia Ormond Brickhouse who survives. He graduated from Bath High School and attended Beaufort County Community College.

   On September 8, 1984 he married the love of his life, Nancy Davenport Brickhouse, who survives. Together with his wife, Buddy proudly built their businesses, Landscaping Unlimited, Inc. and Enchanted Gardens True Value, Inc., which are his legacies to his beloved sons. He was a member of the Bath Volunteer Fire Department. Buddy lived each day to the fullest. He spent his free time with his family and friends, traveling, cooking out and enjoying everyone's company. He shared his love for trains by building model railroads, so people of all ages could watch and enjoy them.

   Survivors include his sons, Samuel Alfred Brickhouse, IV and fiance' Molly Hardison and Shay Alexander Brickhouse, I from Washington, NC; two sisters, Sherry B. McKenzie and husband Max of Elizabeth City, NC and Lori B. Norman and husband Leon of Bath, NC; maternal grandmother, Helen Credle Ormond of Bath, NC; mother-in-law, Martha A. Davenport of Washington, NC; and his large extended family that includes 19 nieces and nephews and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

   Buddy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harold B. Ormond, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Samuel Alfred Brickhouse, Sr. and Myrtle James Brickhouse; father-in-law, Johnnie Richard Davenport, Jr. and uncle, Thomas B. Ormond, Sr.

   The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Hillside Funeral Service, 4500 Hwy 264 E, Washington, NC and other times at the home.

   Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center, Bath Volunteer Fire Department, Bath Christian Church or a charity of one's choice.
