Effective December 4, 2020, the following operational changes are being implemented at the Yeatesville solid waste collection site located at 16954 US 264 Hwy E, Washington, NC 27889.

    Effective December 4, 2020, the following operational changes are being implemented at the Yeatesville solid waste collection site located at 16954 US 264 Hwy E, Washington, NC 27889. These changes are necessary to maintain the safety of users of the site and will remain in effect until further notice.

  • No vehicles are allowed on the metal platform. Users may back their vehicles up to where the raised metal platform begins, if desired.
  • Foot traffic is allowed on the platform to dispose of household waste and bulk waste in the containers.
  • Yard waste will continue to be collected; however, a smaller container will allow for ground level disposal.
  • There will be no changes regarding the collection of white goods/metal, cardboard, or used oil.

    Users desiring to dispose of yard waste from an elevated position may visit one of the collection sites listed below:

  • Five Points: 847 Ambrose Rd, Pinetown, NC 27865
  • River Road: 1057 Magnolia School Rd, Washington, NC 27889
  • Pantego: 730 Beech Ridge Rd, Belhaven, NC 27810

    Beaufort County will work closely with Republic Services to ensure that the increased yard waste disposal demand is accommodated at these sites.

Latest Governing Beaufort County

The city council has only made two official acts as of February 16, 2026
While this afternoon’s update once again included increased probabilities of moderate to major impacts, it will likely be tomorrow before we receive specific accumulation details.
Government and its bureaucracy are not perfect, and never has been in this self-governed society, here at the local level, at our state level, and at our federal level, therefore, it is incumbent upon all elected politicians to seek a comfortable level of representation for our constituents.
Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

Has the local government acted responsibly and transparently?
Beaufort County Commissioners meet, and work by a majority vote to do the business of those constituents they purport to represent.
Waste, fraud, abuse and incompetence continue to govern county school budgets and decision making.

However, if one believes that Beaufort County government is in full command of the issues of our times, here locally, one might need to steel their resolve for a more perfect understanding of the intellect possessed by the Center-Left /Left Coalition.
To borrow a big phrase from this salient plan originating at the federal level, under President Trump's watchful eye, whose time has finally arrived, even here in the mispent realm of Beaufort County government(s).
We must vet, and elect those who will actually represent the people or we will be stuck with the same mess we have now.
