Beaufort County implements new emergency alert system | Eastern NC Now

    WASHINGTON, N.C.     Beaufort County is implementing a new emergency alert system. All residents are encouraged to sign up to receive alerts via phone and email.

    The County has switched from Hyper-Reach to SiRcom SMART Alert as its emergency notification system. Alerts regarding weather events, public safety, public works, environmental hazards, evacuation orders and similar topics are distributed through the system.

    Registration information from the Hyper-Reach platform will not automatically transfer over to SiRcom. Residents will need to register their numbers with the new system, regardless of whether they were subscribed under Hyper-Reach.

    "Mass notification is a critical part of any emergency response," said Beaufort County Emergency Management Coordinator DC Linton. "Signing up for this service is a great way to ensure you receive timely alerts that will help you stay prepared and safe in an emergency."

    How to register for Beaufort County emergency alerts

• Visit beaufort.sircom.org/subscribe
• Enter your phone number(s) and email address(es).
• Provide an address to receive alerts for a specific location. That could be your home address, your workplace, your child's school, a family member's house or another area.
• After finishing the form and clicking the "subscribe to alert system" button, be on the lookout for a text message and/or email confirming your subscription. If you don't see a confirmation message, check your spam or junk folder.

    How to update your information after registration

    If you need to view and/or update your information after you register, visit beaufort.sircom.org/account and follow the prompts to log in.
