Washington Police still encourages all businesses to increase their awareness of counterfeit currency. Citizens as well as businesses need to continue to check bills for safety features like a visible watermark picture, micro printing, color shifting ink and other details used to suppress counterfeiting. Businesses should also continue to use counterfeit detection pens which will help identify counterfeit currency most but not all the time. If anyone believes they have received some counterfeit currency please report it to your local law enforcement agency and do not attempt to pass it on. Such action could result in that person becoming a suspect in a case and causing more confusion for investigators in determining who are victims rather than suspects.
