Biden to push slavery reparations without Congress? | Eastern NC Now

Symbolism over substance

A senior aide to de facto president Joe Biden has told a media source, Axios, that the Biden regime is considering pushing reparations for slavery even without going through Congress.  Though Biden has already been exceeding this Constitutional authority with his executive orders, this would go far beyond many of the things he has already done, and would involve spending huge amounts of money.

This issue has always been a minefield.  Nobody alive today has ever been a slave or slaveowner in America.  Just being a member of a particular race does not make someone either a descendant of a slave or a slaveowner.  Only about 4% of southern whites were slave owners, and the percentage was less for northern whites.  20% of southern blacks and most northern blacks were free blacks, and indeed in the south, 10% of free blacks were slave owners themselves.  Then there are the Americans, black and white, whose ancestors arrived in America after 1865 when slavery no longer existed.  Who is to pay and who is to get paid with that convoluted fact situation?  Polls have always shown that Americans are opposed to such reparations.

This is a power play by a corrupt administration that is primarily trying to corruptly buy votes.
