Linda Cox Alligood | Eastern North Carolina Now

April 12, 1947 – April 15, 2021

Linda Cox Alligood age 74, a resident of Old Bath Highway, Washington, NC passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Joseph B. Paul, Jr & Washington Funeral and Cremation Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Monday, April 19, 2021 at Joseph B. Paul, Jr. and Washington Funeral and Cremation.

Mrs. Alligood was born in Beaufort County on April 12, 1947 the daughter of the late David Cox and Lola Ball Cox.

Linda retired from Wal-Mart after 26 years, where she served as the store's personnel manager. She was known to her friends and family as loving, helpful, and kind, and she enjoyed spending time with all of her loved ones — and if you met her more than once, you were a loved one.

Dependable and reliable, she loved people as if it were her sole objective in life. She lived for seeing a smile on her daughters' and grandchildren's faces and spent many years as a Girl Scout troop leader, often taking the girls camping. Her appreciation for the outdoors especially was seen in her love for the mountains and the beach, where she loved to spend time with her family. RV trips — where she could see all of the sights along the way — fueled her soul, as did her annual shopping trips with her best friends.

A lover of creatures big and small, she adored her many pets over the years, which were treated as revered members of the family. Her enjoyment of cooking also often extended to her pets, who were not at all spoiled over the years.

Linda had an artistic flair that permeated everything she did, from gardening and crafts to her epically elaborate Christmas decorations that she took so much pride in. She shared her love for art with others by teaching a painting class for several years at Beaufort Co. Community College. She blended her appreciation for art extended with her love of the water with her collection of lighthouse memorabilia. She will rest eternal with a lighthouse guarding her heart.

She is survived by her husband: Danny Lee Alligood her husband of 55 years of the home, two daughters: Michelle Fore of Clayton, NC; Lisa Foust and husband Robbie of Raleigh, NC; a brother: David Cox, Jr. and wife Janice of Marco Island, Florida; three grandchildren: Samantha Fore, Danielle Fore and Brayden Foust.

Joseph B. Paul, Jr. & Washington Funeral and Cremation are serving the Alligood family.
