Budd get a big one

New Developments in US Senate primary

Major conservatives endorsements for conservative Congressman Ted Budd in the US Senate primary in North Carolina are paying off big.   The first national conservative PAC to have endorsed Budd, the Club for Growth, has announced that it has already raised $5.125 million to support Budd's Senate candidacy.  The other major national conservative PAC, the Senate Conservatives Fund got involved a bit later and has not reported its total yet.  President Trump's PAC will also be raising money for Budd.

These PACs will funnel some of the funds they raise directly to the candidate, but much of it will probably go to independent expenditure advertising to promote Budd and to expose the records of his rivals.  It is expected that President Trump's endorsement of Budd will play prominently in early ads as polling shows that is absolutely huge for his candidacy.

The leading candidate of the moderate establishment wing of the party, Pat McCrory also recently got his own endorsement, outgoing Senator Richard Burr, who was recently censured by the Central Committee of the North Carolina Republican Party.  Burr's endorsement of McCrory makes quite a contrast with President Trump's endorsement of Budd.  Senator Burr constantly sniped at President Trump and voted to impeach him after regularly defending the Mueller witch hunt against Trump.  In contrast to his anti-Trump posture, Richard Burr has been overly supportive of Joe Biden, voting to confirm many of his radical nominees and recently joining other moderate to left Republicans to support Biden's fake "infrastructure" boondoggle.

Meanwhile, the third major candidate, Mark Walker, has been endorsed by Paul Ryan, who has also had quite a record of sniping at President Trump.  Walker has also been endorsed by Senator Tim Scott, who bushwhacked President Trump's nomination of conservative North Carolinian Tom Farr, who once worked for Senator Jesse Helms, for a federal judicial nomination.

Karl Rove, the personification of the Bush establishment is in NC for McCrory today. He joins Richard Burr in lining up with Pat McCrory. McCrory and WAlker are splitting the RINO types while conservatives unify behind Congressman Ted Budd.
