Andrew Stiles of the Washington Free Beacon highlights an interesting nugget from the police blotter.

  • Nearly one year after predicting Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election would bring about an end to violence in America, former senator Barbara Boxer (D., Calif.) was mugged by reality.
  • In Boxer's case, reality took the form of an actual mugger who attacked her in broad daylight in Democratic governor Gavin Newsom's failed state of California. According to the former senator's Twitter account, Boxer was "assaulted in the Jack London Square neighborhood of Oakland. The assailant pushed her in the back, stole her cell phone and jumped in a waiting car. She is thankful that she was not seriously injured."
  • Rising violence fueled by public officials' reluctance to punish criminals is one of several reasons why people are fleeing the state of California in droves. San Francisco, for example, experienced a 140 percent increase in anti-Asian hate crimes during the first quarter of 2021. Violent crime and property crime are also on the rise, as the city's radical left-wing district attorney, Chesa Boudin, has enacted a laissez-faire approach to criminal behavior.
  • The attack on Boxer, 80, reportedly occurred near her home at around 1:15 p.m. on Monday and involved two young individuals, one who carried out the assault and another who drove a getaway car. "I'm really saddened by this experience because here is a grandma alone, on her phone, and two young people attacked," Boxer told a local CBS affiliate.
  • Boxer, who served four terms in the U.S. Senate and endorsed Biden for president in 2020, was presumably shocked that violent crime could still occur now that a Democrat is in the White House. In August of last year, for example, Boxer tweeted:
  • "In Trump's America heartbreaking violence is rampant because this president doesn't care about solving the crisis, doesn't understand how to bring calm out of chaos & actually is fomenting the divisions & violence. If you don't like the violence in Trump's America vote #Biden2020."
