With Virginians going to the polls in six weeks for their off year election for governor, the latest poll, from Mary Washington University, shows GOP political newcomer Glenn Youngkin surging into a lead against former Democrat Governor and Clinton operative Terry McAuliffe.  Among likely voters, Youngkin leads McAuliffe  48% to 43%, outside the 4 point margin of error.

Another encouraging sign in Virginia is that slightly more Republicans are early voting than Democrats. Traditionally, Republicans vote on election day and Democrats in early voting. In 2020, Democrats won early voting by 30 points over Republicans, for example. freebeacon.com
