France expands nuclear to deal with EU net zero CO2 law | Eastern NC Now

instead of pushing expensive and unreliable wind and solar

ENCNow

France gets 70% of it's electricity from nuclear power, which is cost effective and reliable.  It has often had to bail out neighboring Germany and the UK by supplying power when their hapless neighbors dependence on intermittent wind and solar leaves them short of electricity.

Now, with a Green New Deal EU law requiring European countries to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030, France has responded by announcing that it will be building more nuclear capacity, not pushing unreliable wind and solar.  France had not built a new nuclear plant in over a decade, but that is now about to change.

Pity poor North Carolina, where our RINOs sold out to Roy Cooper and are imposing an even more severe 70% CO2 reduction by 2030, the EU's Green New Deal on steroids.  Instead of the rational leaders of the French national electric company, we have "woke" Duke Energy which is resistant to nuclear energy because they want to virtue signal to the green left and want to keep their leftwing ESG score high.  Duke Energy and Cooper's Utility Commission appointees will saddle NC with expensive and unreliable wind and solar, and the RINO's in the General Assembly put that power in their hands to do so. Shame, shame, shame on those turncoats.

The leader of the UK's rising Reform Party which is now in double digits in the polls, taking votes from Boris Johnson's now green-oriented Conservative Party, aptly calls the net zero policy "net stupid".

Nuclear powered France has significantly lower electric rates than those countries like Germany and the UK which have gone crazy in pushing wind and solar. They are smart to stay on the nuclear path.
