Energy expert warns wind / solar will cause blackouts | Eastern North Carolina Now

German professor says "many deaths" could come from blackouts

ENCNow

Germany has for the last decade been expanding its use of intermittent and weather-dependent wind and solar farms to produce electricity and retire other, more dependable sources. This has already driven residential electric rates in Germany to three times what they are in North Carolina and they are still rapidly rising.

Now, a leading German energy expert, Professor Fritz Vahrenholt, is warning that the German electric grid is reaching a tipping point where grid stability cannot be maintained with undependable wind and solar, which would lead to blackouts, including lengthy blackouts.  Moreover the times those blackouts would be most likely to occur would be during particularly cold periods in winter, which would likely lead to "numerous deaths".  Professor Vahrenholt also warned that such blackouts could also take down the power grids in neighboring countries including Austria and Belgium.

This warning comes as Germany's new Social Democrat led government has announced it intends to speed up the retirement of conventional electricity sources which had started with Merkel's Energiewende (Energy Transition).

North Carolina is following Germany down this same path with the recent passage of North Carolina's own Green New Deal, House Bill 951, courtesy of RINO establishment Republicans including Speaker Tim Moore, Senate President Phil Berger, and the senator that Beaufort County inherits in redistricting, Jim Perry of Kinston.  That bill will lead to premature closure of cheap and dependable coal fired power plants to be replaced by expensive and unreliable wind and solar.
