Megyn Kelly On GOP Winning Virginia: ‘The Domestic Terrorists Would Not Be Silenced’ | Eastern North Carolina Now

Tuesday night, as election returns showed the GOP in Virginia taking the governorship, lieutenant governorship, and possible control of the state assembly, former Fox News anchor and current podcast host Megyn Kelly, pointing out that much of the vote looked as if it was driven by parents fed-up with the policies of public schools, tweeted succinctly, "The domestic terrorists WOULD NOT BE SILENCED."

Glenn Youngkin of the GOP won the governorship; Winsome Sears won the lieutenant governorship, Jason Miyares won the race for Virginia Attorney General, and the General Assembly was reportedly won back by the GOP. The Washington Post reported Wednesday morning:

House Minority Leader Todd Gilbert (R-Shenandoah) declared that the GOP had retaken control of the chamber around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday morning. "Virginia voters made an historic statement, delivering a clear rebuke of the failed policies of the last two years and electing Republicans up and down the ballot," he said in a statement.

Kelly's reference to "domestic terrorists" was a response to the furor that surrounded the letter written by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to President Biden on September 29 in which they stated:

America's public schools and its education leaders are under an immediate threat. The National School Boards Association (NSBA) respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance to deal with the growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation. ...

NSBA believes immediate assistance is required to protect our students, school board members, and educators who are susceptible to acts of violence affecting interstate commerce because of threats to their districts, families, and personal safety.

While local and state law enforcement agencies are working with public school officials in several communities to prevent further disruptions to educational services and school district operations, law enforcement officials in some jurisdictions need assistance - including help with monitoring the threat levels. As these threats and acts of violence have become more prevalent - during public school board meetings, via documented threats transmitted through the U.S. Postal Service, through social media and other online platforms, and around personal properties - NSBA respectfully asks that a joint collaboration among federal law enforcement agencies, state and local law enforcement, and with public school officials be undertaken to focus on these threats.2

NSBA specifically solicits the expertise and resources of the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Secret Service, and its National Threat Assessment Center3 regarding the level of risk to public schoolchildren, educators, board members, and facilities/campuses. We also request the assistance of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to intervene against threatening letters and cyberbullying attacks that have been transmitted to students, school board members, district administrators, and other educators.

As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.

The Daily Wire reported on October 21 that a report claimed the White House collaborated with the National School Boards Association (NSBA) before the group sent the letter:

Emails obtained through public records requests by Parents Defending Education and provided to The Washington Free Beacon have led to questions about the Biden administration's involvement with the contents of the letter, and its motives for actions taken afterward. While the original letter did acknowledge "recent discussions with White House and U.S. Department of Education staff on many critical issues facing public schools, including threats school officials are receiving," the released emails revealed details showing the NSBA was in talks with the White House before the letter was released.

The Loudoun County and Fairfax County school boards have been targeted for their policies by parents for months, as The Daily Wire has reported here, here, here, and here. And the explosive story about the sexual assault at Stone Bridge High School in Loudoun County has also possibly contributed to parents' anger.

The Daily Wire's Ashe Schow wrote in July:

While Democrats continue to claim that Critical Race Theory (CRT) and other so-called anti-racist measures are only opposed by right-wing pundits who purposefully mischaracterize them, Democrat-leaning and moderate parents who voted for President Joe Biden also say they disapprove of what their children are being taught.

Politico spoke to parents, school board members, political operatives, and activists in Northern Virginia, Palm Beach County in Florida, Westchester County in New York, suburban Detroit, and Maricopa County in Arizona, all of which are left-learning. In addition, the outlet spoke with suburban parents in five states where Biden won the 2020 election and one state where former President Donald Trump won.

The outlet found that even though national Democrats and proponents of CRT and what they claim are simple diversity and equity measures claim any fears about the policies are because of "right wing conspiracy theorists," suburban voters feel differently. That's because they're actually paying attention to what's being taught in public schools.
