Anti-Covid passport protesters storm Romanian parliament | Eastern NC Now

In ongoing protests around Europe against the authoritarian and anti-democratic vaccine passports, protesters in front of the Romanian parliament in Bucharest stormed the building, breaching police lines and making it up the steps of the parliament before the police were able to contain them.  Several members of parliament and foreign ambassadors were trapped inside the building.

Romanian police estimated that 2,000 people were in the main protest and about 300 of  them broke through locked gates on the street side of the Parliament to storm the building.  After about two hours, those breaching parliament grounds peacefully withdrew.  No arrests were made.  Some damage to vehicles apparently was done.  Most of the protestors were not wearing masks and many carried Romanian flags.  Protestors tore down EU flags and drew swastikas on them.

Legislation to impose a workplace vaccine passport is still in discussion stages and a bill  has not even been drafted.  After the protests, Romania's coalition government suspended discussions of such a bill.
