Beaufort County's Government Begins Budget Deliberations - Part I - January 27th, 2022 | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Beaufort County's Commissioners began deliberations over a two day period to discuss the cost of managing the most important government - Beaufort County Government - in the lives of its citizens. On January 27th, and then again on January 28th most of Beaufort County's Commissioners heard from interested parties what would be their upcoming needs going forward into the fiscal 2022 /2023 year, and will, at some point, be forced to determine how much, if not all, or even more of those needs will be delivered.

    Already, due to a bloated fund balance in the People's treasury, Beaufort County Commissioners Hood Richardson and Stan Deatherage are calling for a one time tax break, in the form of a one year tax rate reduction to the county's tax paying citizens, while other commissioners have alternate ideas that will be brought forward to codify such a Richardson /Deatherage one time monetary pledge, or stop that possibility of these two commissioners' spending restraint in favor of their greater funding desires for new and old pet projects.

    Regardless, one movement is quite certain, with that being the process has begun to take a position to one direction, or the other, with those vectored political positions being directly in opposition of what is considered best for Beaufort County's People.

  No, please work to be frugal; more mindful that this is the public's money, and return to taxpayers what is not absolutely needed.
