Greg Murphy draws 4 primary opponents for Congress | Eastern NC Now

and wrong BC legislative seat gets primary

ENCNow

Congressman Greg Murphy, who has been trying to straddle the fence between the establishment and the conservatives in DC has drawn 4 primary challengers; George Papastrat, Brian Friend,  ERic Earhart, and Tony Cowden, all political newcomers.

In Beaufort County's legislative races, the wrong incumbent ended up with a primary. We inherited Lenoir County's Sen. Jim Perry in redistricting and he is tight with the establishment wing of the party as well as powerful special interests.  There were active efforts by conservatives in both Craven and Beaufort County to find a conservative challenger, and at one time it looked like we had a very solid candidate, but nothing came through.  On the other hand, conservative incumbent Keith Kidwell, head of the House Freedom Caucus, had a political unknown from Pamlico County file at the last minute.   Neither has a Democrat or Libertarian opponent.

From what I read on another site, it looks like Cowden is the main challenger to Murphy.

Murphy is a mixed bag. He has taken some good stands on Covid related issues but his going along with the cancel culture against our southern heritage is disgusting. Looking at Tony Cowden's website, he looks impressive and conservative, an ex-Green Beret who is now a small businessman: www.tonycowden.com
