Environmental orgs are Russian funded ''5th column'' in Europe and US | Eastern North Carolina Now

During the Spanish Civil War, a nationalist general told reporters of his attack on a republican held city, saying "I have four columns marching on the city and a fifth column ready to rise up within it".  Since then the term "5th column" has been used to denote the enemy within.  In furthering its geopolitical aims, Russia is funding just such a fifth column and has been for some while.  It is the "environmentalist" movement.

Russia is a heavy producer of gas and oil and they want other countries dependent on them rather than energy independent.  Environmental organizations have been funded by Russia to discourage energy production that would make countries less dependent on Russia. The game plan is simple.  Demonize fracking so that Europe and to some degree America do not produce their own gas.  Both Europe and America have lots of it that they could wean themselves from Russian supply, but in Europe particularly, very little of it is actually produced.  Demonize nuclear power and encourage governments either not to develop any more of it, or like Germany, actually shut down what they already have.  Demonize coal which Europe and America have in abundance and is often a viable substitute for many uses of gas and oil.  Promote intermittent and unreliable wind and solar, creating a big need for gas backup for when the wind is not blowing and the sun not shining. That helps raise gas prices.  Wind and solar also puts a bigger dependence of their ally Red China for many of its components.

Now westerners are wising up to these Russian funded operatives in the environmental movement.  The Paris-based Foundation for Political Innovation  conducted an investigation that found that found heavy financing for European environmentalist groups going back years from the Russian state-owned gas company Gazprom.  People from these Russian financed organizations have even become cabinet ministers responsible for energy or environment in two European countries.

NATO's Secretary General in 2014 had denounced Russia secretly funding environmental organizations to try to stop Europe from developing its shale gas in order to keep Europe dependent on Russia.

In 2016, even Hillary Clinton spoke of Russian funding for American environmental groups:

The funding mechanism is that the Russian government funnels money to shall companies in Bermuda, which then send it to the Sea Change Foundation in the United States which then funnels it to US environmentalist groups doing Russia's bidding.  On March 11, 2022, Congressman Jim Banks and Bill Johnson sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen demanding an investigation of this flow of Russian money which is going to multiple well known US environmentalist organizations.

Last year, North Carolina adopted a very Russia-friendly energy policy in passing House Bill 951.  One can only guess how much Russian money may have been slipped to the RINOs responsible, including Tim Moore and Phil Berger.

Russian funding of environmental groups to try to gum up our economies and make us less competitive on energy is clearly a big threat to America. Right here in North Carolina, the two head men of the climate alarmist lobbying group are paid for by these Russian and Soros funded groups. One of them, Paul Shumaker is the political consultant for for Richard Burr, THom Tillis, and Pat McCrory. www.zerohedge.com

I found this interesting as I just finished a book The American by Kenneth Rosenberg, that was about Russians agents in this country stirring up civil unrest in the country by pitting one group against another like what happened in Charlottesville and other places. Makes you wonder how much fiction and how much is truth yet to be discovered.

Biden, Cooper, and all the Dems are up to their eyeballs in helping Russia get their energy plan imposed on America. Every time they push the absurd climate alarmist argument to dump reliable energy in favor on unreliable and expensive wind and solar is at attack on American energy independence and on consumers' pocketbooks. It is totally shameful that liberal Republicans Moore and Berger are helping them do it to North Carolina. Whatever happened to having Republican elected officials who thought like Republicans? Moore and Berger surely don't. If America is going to get our energy house in order, we need to tell the stinking Russian-funded climate alarmists to take a long walk off of a short pier.
