Energy executives appearing before parliament have warned that electric rate increases are already pushing British people into energy poverty and debt and it will get worse. Living standards in the UK are falling rapidly due to high energy costs and inflation.

In its "Net Zero" push, which is ridiculed by the populist conservative Reform Party as "Net Stupid", the British government has expanded its dependence on expensive and unreliable wind and solar power while it has worked to eliminate cheap and dependable coal. It also does not allow fracking which could produce onshore British deposits of shale gas.  Even after new discoveries of offshore oil and gas, the government has not moved to develop them due to its Net Zero agenda.  These suicidal moves are what is soaking the British consumer.

Although the UK does not depend on Russian gas to the extent Germany does, the loss of Russian gas is also a factor pushing prices higher.

What is frightening is that in Green New Deal HB951, the RINO leadership in our legislature has put North Carolina on the very same path as the UK and it will have the same result.
