Mayor Donald Sadler's war on history in Washington | Eastern NC Now

cynical attack on our history by Washington's mayor

ENCNow

America, and indeed the western world has been seeing a war on history by the fat left over the past few years which reminds one of Chairman Mao's infamous Cultural Revolution.  It also reminds one of George Orwell's novel "1984".  We have seen historical monuments toppled and removed, buildings and streets renamed, and other attacks on our history.

Now Washington Mayor Donald Sadler is getting into the act.  His target is Washington's Historic District which he wants to make just another neighborhood and destroy its historic character.  As George Orwell put it "history has stopped.  All that is left is the endless present, and the party is always right".

Sadler is going around telling people that in a few months the historic district guidelines will fall and people can do what they want to buildings.  He is setting about to change the rules.  Unfortunately, he has three pathetic yes-men on the City Council who will probably rubberstamp Sadler's demands.

We can say goodbye to our history if Sadler imposes this cultural revolution on us.  It may be his own left-wing ideology at work or a special interest play for his buddies the vinyl siding and windows salesmen or some of both.
