Gov. Cooper wants to drastically raise electric rates with offshore wind | Eastern NC Now

Offshore wind turbines are by far one of the most expensive ways to make electricity, but that is exactly what leftwing Governor Roy Cooper is demanding in an executive order issued this month.  How much more expensive?  A good example is the newly built South Fork Wind Project off of Long Island.  The Long Island Power Authority is paying FOUR AND A HALF times MORE for  wholesale electricity from that offshore wind project than they pay for wholesale electricity from conventional electric generation sources.  Can our working class and middle class families afford that?

Offshore wind turbines are harmful to the environment.  Studies in Europe have shown that they slaughter large numbers of sea birds (from their whirling blades), and damaging to crabs and lobsters (form their underwater power cables), and harmful to marine mammals such as whales and dolphins (from their power cables).  They also produce toxic waste that is a disposal problem.  It is an assault on the environment to industrialize the oceans with these things.
