Beaufort County's Chapter of the Bill Cook Recount | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Publisher's note: With the final Bill Cook recount close at hand, Kellie Hopkins, Director of Elections in Beaufort County, issues a statement here below.

For Immediate Release:

   The Beaufort County Board of Elections will conduct it's recount of the November 6th, 2012 Senate District 1 Contest at 9:00 am on Monday, November 26th, 2012 at the Board of Elections Office at 1308 Highland Drive, Suite 104, Washington, NC 27889.

   We are expecting that the recount will take most of the day. Observers are welcome but cannot disrupt the recounting process. We will have multiple machines running in our lobby and observers should have easy access in order to visually observe the process at each machine.

   If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact me by email or phone. Our Office is closed until Monday but I expect to be in the office over the holiday and will check email at least once daily. You may also reach me on my personal cell phone at (252)944-5504 if needed.

North Carolina's Rate Bureau has requested for 2024 an annual increase of 42.2%, whereby North Carolina's Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey has exhibited a great willingness to take a firm stand against such an exorbitant increase.
I reckon one could always argue that ignorance rests in the eyes of the beholder, but, I'm not taking that bet ... not in these Orwellian times, when so few of our fellow travelers know so little of what is real, and far too much of what otherwise might be terminally fake.

This morning’s update from the National Weather Service (NWS) included an elevated threat of severe weather, to include the possibility of tornados, as well as an increase in the forecasted wind conditions.
Our office is continuing to monitor an approaching cold front that is expected to bring high winds, elevated water levels, rain and the potential for severe storms to our area Tuesday and Wednesday. Forecast details for Beaufort County can be found below.
