SCOTUS blocks Obama judge from Lousiiana congressional gerrymandering | Eastern NC Now

Obama judge was to draw own racially gerrymandered districts tomorrow

ENCNow

An order from the SCOTUS was entered just in the nick of time to stop an Obama judge in Louisiana from racially gerrymandering their congressional districts.  The state legislature had passed a new district map that made only minor changes to the existing district map, which was then vetoed by the Democrat governor, who demanded another minority majority district.  The legislature overrode him, but then an Obama judge in the federal district court threw out the legislature's map and ordered them to draw another minority district.  The legislature refused and sought intervention from the US Supreme Court.  The Obama judge had scheduled a hearing tomorrow to draw her own congressional districts, but the SCOTUS has now put a stop to that.
