Low wind conditions likely to cause UK power rationing | Eastern NC Now

that is what happens when you rely on weather-dependent wind and solar

ENCNow

Relying on weather-dependent sources of electricity like wind and solar are always a bit risky, and the UK seems likely to find that out this winter.  Projections of low wind conditions, particularly around Christmas time have resulted in warnings of power rationing or perhaps even blackouts for the UK.

To make matters worse, there does not seem to be anywhere the UK can import power from this time.  The same low wind conditions are projected for other countries of northern Europe.  In previous prolonged wind droughts last year, the UK imported nuclear power from France, but now a number of France's nuclear plants are down for long term maintenance and France does not have the spare power.

The UK has plenty of its own coal it could burn, but the climate alarmists insisted on blowing up the country's coal power plants when they were closed.  Now that is no longer an option. They insisted on relying on fickle wind and solar.

Wind and solar rely mostly on gas for backup because gas plants can be cycled up and down much quicker than coal, oil, or especially nuclear.  The problem with that is that the last wind drought caused Europe to burn through its gas reserves just in time for Putin to cut off their gas.  Europe and the UK have plenty of shale gas of their own but does not allow fracking to utilize it.

The climate crazies have sure got Europe in a mess, but the same insane policies are being brought to America by Biden on the national level and legislative RINO leaders Phil Berger and Tim Moore on the state level here in NC.  Berger and Moore's HB951 they passed last year is even more radical than the EU's Green Deal.
