AfD is populist / nationalist and anti-immigration
Support for the Alternativ fur Deutschland (AfD) party has been surging in polls in Germany. According to a poll by the respected German pollster Insa, AfD, which is a populist / nationalist anti-immigration party, is now the strongest party in the states that used to be East Germany, and is rising in western Germany as well. In fact, nationally, the AfD is only four points behind the governing Social Democrats.
This is yet another example of Europe's swing to the right.
