Conservative school board sweep is good news for parents | Eastern NC Now

new members will be voice for parents

ENCNow

As has been happening all over the country, voters have made a big change in the composition of the Beaufort County Board of Education by electing a new slate of candidates more aligned with the concerns of parents.  In the primaries, two weak RINOs were defeated in the GOP primary and replaced as nomiinees by strong conservatives Gary Carlton and Donald Shreve, both of whom won overwhelmingly in the general election.  In a partisan general election faceoff, twenty year incumbent liberal Democrat E.C. Peed, who has always been a rubberstamp for the school bureaucracy, was soundly defeated by conservative Republican Charles Hickman.  The fourth seat up this year is held by Terry Williams, the most conservative of the current school board, and he was not challenged.

Five seats are up for election in two years.  While they could resist change, the mandate from the voters is so clear that it is likely that enough of them will join the new members to make needed changes.  If they resist the mandate, they will likely be toast in the nect school board election.

There are lots of issues to be dealt with including stopping CRT and radical gender ideology as well as structural changes to give parents more voice in education.

Pitt County had a school board disaster, with two ultra-woke far-left radicals winning seats. Conservatives were asleep at the switch there. I am very happy about our school board results here, and I loved the radio ad of the conservative school board team.

The problem on too many school boards is members who think the superintendant is the boss and they are the employees instead of the other way around. The elected leaders need to bring the education deep state to heel.
