Mr. Joseph Foster Massey, Jr., age 84, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, Washington, NC, and beloved husband of K. Jane Massey, died on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

   Mr. Joseph Foster Massey, Jr., age 84, a resident of Pamlico Plantation, Washington, NC, and beloved husband of K. Jane Massey, died on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.

   A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Zion Episcopal Church, Washington, NC officiated by the Rev. Albert H. MacKenzie. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Parish Hall and anytime at the home.

   Mr. Massey was born in Alexandria, VA on May 20, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Mazie Courtney Massey. He was married to K. Jane Poff Massey for 64 years who survives. Mr. Massey worked as an elevator repairman before becoming an electrician. He worked in many government buildings around the Washington, DC area for many years. He was a Journeyman Electrician, member of I.B.E.W. Local #26 for 56 years. Mr. Massey lived in Northern Virginia for 64 years before moving to Washington, NC where he and his wife made their home for the last 20 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, tinkering in the garage, basket weaving and spending time with his family. Mr. Massey was a member of Zion Episcopal Church.

   In addition to his wife of 64 years he is survived by his children, Patricia A. deBlois (Craig), June M. Massey-Brown (Jeff) and Wade A. Massey (Mary Kay); his grandchildren, Steven C. deBlois (Misty), Erryn R. deBlois, Mary Elizabeth Massey and Hugh Foster Massey; stepgrandchildren, Adam K. Brown (Shelby) and Benjamin D. Brown; great-grandchildren, Sienna C. deBlois and Silas C. deBlois; his brother-in-law, J. Lee Poff (Elsie); two nieces; two nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, N. Marie Massey Conover.
