Dirty tricks by GOP House staffer cost GOP House supermajority | Eastern NC Now

it would be appalling if this guy kept his job after this smear

ENCNow

Stephen B. Wiley is the assistant political director for the NC House Republican Caucus (read: Tim Moore).  Smears Wiley orchestrated for the GOP primary, backing an establishment progressive GOP candidate against a conservative backfired in the general election to allow a far left Democrat to snag a Republican seat.  That cost the House Republicans their hoped for supermajoriy.

Does this guy still have a job???? And, if so, WHY?????

When, longtime conservative legislator Larry Pittman retired from House District 73 in Cabarrus County, the Raleigh GOP establishment sought to turn the seat to the establishment side.  Catherine Whiteford, who ran for a Wake County House seat in 2020 was parachuted into Cabarrus County when a close Tillis ally gave her a job there.  Whiteford is a full spectrum progressive who has marched with BLM, pushed the LGBT agenda, embraces climate alarmism and "green" energy, and has openly called for the GOP to accept the progressive agenda.

A local conservative, Brian Eschevarria, was the stumbling block to imposing leftist Whiteford as the GOP nominee.  Wiley provided a smear to attack Eschevarria with, a criminal rap sheet from a person with the same name.  In the primary, when this smear was deployed, Eschevarria was able to point out that this was a different person, and he won the primary over Whiteford.

In the general election, the Democrats deployed this smear, then clearly known to be false as a last minute attack, run heavily on TV with Roy Cooper actually presenting the smear showing a mug shot of someone else.  The GOP campaign was caught flatfooted without the time or funds to effectively respond.  A pro-BLM race hustler narrowly won the seat for the Democrats as a result.  Wiley's smear came full circle, and it cost the GOP its House supermajority.

Why was a House GOP caucus staffer allowed to meddle in primaries?  Why was he allowed to use fabricated smear tactics on a fellow Republican in a primary?  Why does this low life still have a job?
