Mrs. Sidney “Jean” Selby Broome | Eastern NC Now

    Mrs. Sidney “Jean” Selby Broome, a resident of 75 Bay City Road, Aurora died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at her home.

    A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Dublin Grove Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Mrs. Broome was born in Royal, NC on May 5, 1941, daughter of the late Troy and Emma Selby. She attended Aurora High School and was a 1960 graduate. In 1960, she married Jack Broome who predeceased her in 2004.

    She is survived by her children: Rose Allen and husband Roy “Yank” Allen of the home, Rochelle Broome of SC and a nephew she considered a son, Ellis Turnage of Aurora; her grandchildren: Christine Biddix and her husband Mark, Scott Allen and his wife Stephanie all of Aurora, Pam Allen of Winterville and Alexis Broome of SC, a great niece that she considered a grandchild, Maranda Turnage of Pamlico County; her great-grandchildren: Mike Wierzbowski and Anna Allen of the home, Thomas Wierzbowski, Chris Koch and Tyler Koch all of Aurora, Timothy Biddix and Anthony Biddix of Belhaven and many other “adopted” great-grandchildren; her sister: Mary Haug of Black Duck, Mn. In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brothers: James Selby and John Selby; her sisters: Doris Potter, Judy Turnage and Fannie Perry.

    The family will receive friends at the home located at 75 Bay City Road, Aurora.
