A new poll conducted by Gallup for the Knight Foundation, which for the Knight Foundation, which was organized by Knight Newspapers, has found that Ameicans increasingly view their media as politically biased and not trustworthy.

When asked about political bias, Gallup found that overall 55% believe that American media have "a great deal" of political bias, while 34% believe it has "a fair amount" of political bias, and 8% believe it has "not too much" political bias. Among Republicans 79% believe media has a great deal of political bias, compared to 62% of independents, and even 33% of Democrats.  On the flip side only 3% of Republicans, 7% of Independents, and 14% of Democrats believe the media has not too much political bias.

The poll found that 50% of Americans believe that media intentionally mislead, 25% believe they do not intend to mislead and 25% are not sure.

On trust in media, 41% say they have a very low trust in media, 32% a somewhat low trust in media, and 23% a high trust in media.

The poll also found a somewhat higher level of trust in local media over national media.
