Former NCDHHS secretary Cohen tapped for director of CDC | Eastern North Carolina Now

Former North Carolina Health and Human Services Secretary Mandy Cohen is reportedly slated to become the next director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On condition of anonymity, three sources told The Washington Post Thursday that Cohen is President Joe Biden's pick to replace outgoing director Rochelle Walensky, who is stepping down this month. The article said a formal announcement would be made by Biden later in the month.

Currently the executive vice president and CEO of Maryland-based Aledade Care Solutions, Cohen led NCDHHS from 2017-2021. She resigned in Nov. 2021.

An internal medicine physician, Cohen led North Carolina's operational response to COVID-19, including hospital, testing, and tracing capacities. She came to North Carolina after serving in the Obama administration, where led the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. During that time, she helped to implement the Affordable Care Act.

While the position of CDC director doesn't require Senate confirmation, it may be a bumpy road ahead for the agency.

House Republicans plan on holding a hearing next week to address the CDC's failures during the pandemic.

Cohen had been previously considered for other senior roles in the Biden administration.

Understanding that this fragile Republic of the self-governed is in a precarious space in our nation's vast history: What is your honor bound patriotic duty in helping to sustain the continuance of these United States of America?
I will depend on my Democratic Socialist politicians to continue to march hard toward the Left to provide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for all who think and do as they are told.
I will defend the Constitution of the United States of America, and support all elected leaders who pledge to protect and insure the continued sovereignty of this Representative Republic.
I am very concerned about maintaining my current life style without working. I was told that as long as I vote Democrat, I had nothing to worry about ... but now I worry.

Idiot President Biden knows exactly where to find the most ineffective bureaucrats to run our federal government into the ground, and North Carolina is a hotbed for the perfect Democratic Socialist candidates to perform such.
