Permitted solely for the conducting of clinical trials

The United Kingdom's National Health Service (NIH) on Friday announced that it will ban the use of puberty blockers and regulate gender transition treatments for minors.

Puberty blockers will remain permitted solely for the conducting of clinical trials. Instead, the service plans to "adopt a holistic, multi-disciplinary integrated approach to assessing and responding to an individual’s needs."

England's NHS issued a draft guidance in October recognizing that gender dysphoria could be a "transient phase" and young, pre-pubescent children should be treated based on "evidence that, in most cases, gender incongruence does not persist into adolescence."

Finland, Sweden, and Switzerland are among other European countries that have stopped gender transition surgery and drugs for children, ackhnowledging that most children grow out of gender confusion naturally.

Last year, the UK NHS closed the Tavistock Child Gender clinic, which appropriately had been located at a mental health hospital. At the same time they directed their doctors not to even suggest new names or pronouncs for gender confused children, much less surgery or drugs. It is good to see that they are going farther in blocking use of these physically damaging drugs on innocent children.
