One person injured, two extricated after tree falls on RV | Eastern North Carolina Now

Press Release:

WASHINGTON, N.C.     One person was injured Tuesday morning after a tree at Goose Creek State Park fell across the sleeping compartment of a travel trailer in the RV campground.

Beaufort County fire and EMS personnel and park rangers responded to the call at approximately 1:12 a.m. Tuesday. The fallen tree injured an elderly woman and trapped two teenagers in the RV. The elderly woman was transported by EMS personnel to ECU Health Medical Center for treatment. The teenagers were extricated from the RV by fire personnel. They did not appear to be injured but were transported to ECU Health for medical evaluation.

The incident happened as overnight storms brought heavy rain and winds to the area. Beaufort County Emergency Services estimates that approximately 1,000 homes were without power at some point during the storms, and most of those outages were fixed by 3 a.m.
