State Senate RINOs pushing for new ferry tolls | Eastern NC Now

Pamlico River ferry included

ENCNow

RINOs in the State Senate have added a provision to the state budget bill that would require tolls on all state ferries, including the one across the Pamlico River from Bayview to Aurora.  The State House has not gone along with this measure, which would be harmful to eastern North Carolina.  Hopefully, they will stand firm on leaving it out of the budget.

As to our local legislators, Rep. Keith Kidwell is actively opposing this provision, while RINO State Senator Jim Perry voted FOR it in the Senate.

Maybe we ought to demand tolls on all bridges in western North Carolina or if they want to toll our ferry, have them build us a free bridge to replace it!

It is hard to believe the all it took was one RINO to push Donna Simon out of running from Beaufort County as the Conservative for that state senate seat just a few years back.

This ferry toll business would be bad for both the people and the economy of Beaufort County if it is not stopped in the legislature.

Stan, you are spot on when you call Perry "tone deaf". I checked into him when he screwed us on the Medicaid expansion, which is part and parcel of Obamacare. He is personally a multi-millionaire who in his own life does not have to worry about what things cost, so he just doesn't care about the financial burdens he places on others. He did not care that the Medicaid expansion would drive up health care costs and insurance costs for the rest of us. He does not care that the ferry tolls will be a financial burden on those who have to use the ferries daily to get to their jobs. He did not care that the Green New Deal he pushed will cause major increases in the electric bills for ordinary citizens and for small busiinesses.

And Steven, you put it very mildly when you said you wished Perry would listen more to grassroots Republicans. The fact is that he does not listen at all. Perry's MO is to gather campaign money from special interests and then do their bidding in Raleigh. He had done nothing in the Republican Party when a Senate vacancy occured and Perry was looking for something to do after selling his company. He has spent no time in the party trenches and does not appreciate party activists or voters.

Jim Perry is exactly the type of person that we do NOT need to be electing to public office. He does not seem to have been a major player in pushing the tolls, but he was in a position he could have fought it when it went through the Senate and failed to do so.

Stan, I would not call Perry "the darling of the Beaufort County GOP". He has had one major cheerleader on the ExCom. I do wish Sen. Perry would be willing to listen a lot more to the party grassroots on how he votes in Raleigh.

Jim Perry, the darling of the Beaufort County GOP, does appear to be politically tone deaf on a number of issues.

Ferry tolls?????!!!!! We went through this BS and beat it before. Every time I see the name Jim Perry, he seems to be doing something liberal or stupid or both.
