Opposition to Berger's casinos mounts from his own district | Eastern NC Now
will we see a primary? We SHOULD. Berger needs to GO
The home folks in Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger's legislative district are not happy about his trying to pawn off a casno on them. First, over 500 people turned out to a public meeting in Rockingham County to oppose the casino. Then Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page (who is also a candidate for Lt. Governor) came out in opposition Now the local town councils of two towns in Berger's district, Stokesdale and Summerfield, have unanimously passed resolutions against the casino.

This is just the latest Phil Berger pander to the special interests, and against the wishes of the GOP base. Repeal of bathroom privacy law HB2, and passage of the Green New Deal and Obamacare Medicaid expansion are other prime examples.
Phil Berger needs to GO, as a state seantor and especially as President Pro Tem of the state senate. Hopefully, his latest special interest pander will wake somebody up to primary him next year.
