    On March 31, 2013
Patrice Donnette Gorham
at approximately 1:24 a.m., Deputy Jonathan Fowler with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division stopped a vehicle that he had observed on Highway 17 South in Washington. The vehicle had a headlight out and was being driven erratically. Fowler made contact with the driver and passenger and observed an open bottle of liquor in the passenger area.

    The driver provided her name and a date of birth. Deputy Fowler ran the name given through the NCDMV computerized records system and learned that the birth date given was incorrect. Fowler arrested the driver for Driving While License Revoked and Providing Fictitious Information to a LEO. During a search of the vehicle, Deputy Fowler located a second open container of liquor and drug paraphernalia. The driver was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both occupants were charged with Possession of an Open Container.

    On April 12, 2013, Deputy Fowler was contacted by a subject that reported the driver in this case had used the subject’s identity fraudulently during the traffic stop. The Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation and identified the driver as Patrice Gorham of Washington. As a result of the investigation, Deputy Fowler applied for and obtained warrants charging Patrice Donnette Gorham, age 26, of East 15th Street in Washington with Identity Theft, Fictitious Information to an Officer, Possession of Drug.

    Paraphernalia, Possession of an Open Container in the Passenger Area, and DWLR. A warrant was also obtained on the passenger in the vehicle for Resisting a Public Officer for participating in the fraudulent use of the victim’s name. Gorham turned herself in on April 14th and was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,500.00 secured bond set by Magistrate David Curtis. All charges in the victim’s name related to the traffic stop on March 31st have been dismissed.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from concerned parents regarding a past incident that occurred at Bath Elementary School. I would like to assure the public that there is no current threat of school violence.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 739 Cherry Rd, Washington NC for a 911 call reporting a male subject being shot.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Washington Police Department units were dispatched to the 600 block of West 9th Street in reference to a possible shooting in progress.
On December 16 th the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Response Team along with officers from the Washington Police Department joined forces to arrest a subject wanted in Beaufort and Pitt County for ten outstanding warrants that included multiple felony charges.
