News Release:

On April 27, 2013, from 1 to 4 PM, award winning naval architect, designer and boat builder, Graham Burns, of Vandemere, NC will give a presentation on Wooden Boat Kit Building, at the Washington Marine Market on the waterfront in downtown Washington, NC. Beaufort County has been a boat building community since colonial times. Graham is a four-time sail boat winner of the 280 mile, non-stop, Everglades Challenge adventure race for small craft in his Core Sound 17 and Everglades Challenge 22 designs. His CS20 and CS17 placed 1st and 2nd in the sailboat class of the Everglades Challenge this year. This presentation is a follow-up to Graham's introduction to wooden boatbuilding at the Estuarium in the fall of 2012.

Graham's B&B Yachts is preparing kits for the June 2013 Family Boatbuilding Event at the Wooden Boat Show in Mystic, CT, and will be displaying this kit at the Washington Marine Market. The Mandy/Amanda/Jessy kit allows family builders to create the basic version of a row, sail, or power version of this versatile 12' skiff in just three days, and then finish fitting out the boat at home. Fans and builders of B&B Yachts' small boats will also be displaying some of their boats.

Also in attendance will be the Carolinas Chapter of the Antique Outboard Motor Club who will display antique and classic outboard motors and boats from the 1930s to the 1960s. This year, in addition to the old motors on display, some 25 motors will be available for sale, swap or trade. The Washington Marine Market will also host members of the Traditional Small Craft of Raleigh.

Please join us at the Marine Market on April 27, and consider becoming a part of a revival of personal and family wooden boat building in Beaufort County, North Carolina.
