Black Dallas mayor switches from Democrat to Republican | Eastern NC Now
cites law and order and fiscal responsitibility
Dallas, Texas Mayor Eric Johnson, a black Democrat, has announced that he is switching to the Republican Party. Johnson, who was first elected in 2019, cited fiscal responsibility and law and order as his main reasons for switching parties. As mayor, Johnson has been strongly pro-police and has seen the city's crime rate drop. "American cities need Republicans" Mayor Johnson declared.
