Mr. Carson Carter “C.C.” Hodges, age 85, a former resident of Cherry Road, Washington, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his daughter’s home.

    Mr. Carson Carter "C.C." Hodges, age 85, a former resident of Cherry Road, Washington, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his daughter's home.

    The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, October 22, 2023, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home of his daughter, Loretta Latham, 268 Telephone Lane, Pinetown.

    A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2023, at Graceway Pentecostal Holiness Church, Slatestone Road, Washington, conducted by Pastor Linwood Lewis and Mr. "C.C.'s" nephew, Pastor J.T. Edwards.

    Mr. "C.C." was born in Beaufort County on July 20, 1938. He was raised in Bath. Mr. "C.C." was the son of the late Wilson Hodges and Callie Eborn Hodges. He was a retired machine operator with Texasgulf (now Nutrien) with 35 years of service. Mr. "C.C." was a member of Tau Tribe No. 18, Improved Order of Redmen and Graceway Pentecostal Holiness Church.

    Mr. "C.C." was married to the former Myrtle Alligood, who preceded him in death in 2017.

    Mr. "C.C." is survived by his son, Mike Hodges (Sandra) of Washington; daughter, Loretta Latham (Lee) of Pinetown; grandchildren, Lenay Hodges, Tyler Hodges (Charity), Michelle Clark (Josh), Chase Hodges, Josh Latham (Ashley), Braxton Latham (Allison), Craig DeJong (Charlotte), Christopher DeJong (Amber), Jessica Gurganus (Ethan), Devon Satchell (Lynn); great grandchildren, Jaxson, Gracie, Shyla, McKenna, Lakelyn, Piper, Stetson, Carson and expectant baby (Elsie Gray), Ellis and expectant baby sister, Lane, Raelyn, Callie, Marshall, Nevaeh, Ameliah, Avah, Tommy and Kayly and multiple nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. "C.C." was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Harris, and Betty Leggett.

    The family would also like to thank Crystal Ball who was a longtime family friend and caregiver of Papa C. We greatly appreciate everything she has done for not only Papa C but the entire family as well.

    The family would also like to thank Gentiva of Washington, NC for the hospice care they provided over the last year and a half.

    Papa C loved his grandchildren very much and could always be seen at every ballfield with a hot dog in hand or any other events involving them. He will be missed greatly by each one of them. We love you Papa C.
