Newsguard demands that news organizations adhere to gov't narrative | Eastern North Carolina Now

Newsguard is a for-profit organization that purports to fight "misinformation" and "fake news" on the internet, working with government agencies and major advertisers.  It proclaims sites, mostly on left as "trusted" and others, mostly on the right as "not trustworthy".

Now the New York Post,  one of the oldest and largest newspapers in the United States, has printed an article exposing Newsguard.  Its research shows that Newsguard demands that news organizations follow the approved government narratives, or Newsguard brings about shadow bans or loss of advertising revenue.

Newsguard is conspiring with political actors against the free speech and First Amendment rights of Americans and should be put out of business.  One way to do that is to make sure those it dings can sue them for damages.  Perhaps state attorney generals can take them to court for a RICO conspiracy against our Constitutional rights.

While the Democrats get their panties in a twist over false claims of Donald Trump being a threat to democracy, the real threat to democracy lies in Newsguard and others, in and out of government, trying to suppress free speech.  Free speech is a necessary component of democracy and without it genuine democracy cannot exist.
