Stafford Act gives Helene victims avenue to sue FEMA for lack of assistance | Eastern NC Now

The continung failure of the Biden-Harris run FEMA to deliver proper disaster aid to western NC and other hard hit areas from Hurricane Helene may come back to haunt them.  The Stafford Act, adopted by Congress and case law from lawsuits on inept FEMA aid after Katrina, opens the door for Helene victims to sue FEMA.

A major bone of contention is the new first principle of FEMA adopted under Biden-Harris which directs that aid be provided according to "Disaster Equity", giving a superior priority on aid to certain designated groups.  As with much of the Biden-Harris policy, that flies directly in the face of statutory law adopted by Congress.  In this case that is the Stafford Act which clearly prohibits discrimination in providing disaster assistance, and is based on equality, NOT "equity".  "Equity" is the Orwellian Newspeak of the left meaning giving favoritism to certain groups.

Meanwhile, after government bureaucrats told the community of Big Chimney in western North Carolina that it would probably take a year to rebuild their access road that had been destroyed, they turned to a group of coal miner volunteers from West Virginia who had brought their own equipment..  The coal miners had the road rebuilt in a week.
