Honesty anyone? | Eastern North Carolina Now

    So saith the Anointed One. His "mouthpiece" Jay Carney echos the misleading (if not downright dishonest) statement.. Do you suppose they believe that if we hear it twice from two different people it must be true?? And then here comes Jack Lew alluding to the same line. Surely Mrs. Schumer's boy Charlie can't be far behind. (Just bring along a TV camera; he'll be there.) That would make it three and a half times we have been treated to the same BS. If you believe what they are peddling, you are in for a very rude awakening one of these days...

    What we are hearing are talking points written for the Anointed One by one of his anonymous spear carriers and repeated by an individual who is paid rather well to do so. All the while, Mr. Carney strives mightily to say a lot in defense of the Anointed One's "talking points" without ever answering most questions posed by the White House Press Corps. And now there is "Jack", the "new" Secretary of the Treasury.... Well, at least he presumably knows how to prepare an honest tax return; but then that may not be a job requirement in the current administration

    And then the Anointed One announces in no uncertain terms that he will not accept anything the Reps may offer while at the same time accusing them of bringing the entire government to a grinding halt with their recalcitrance.. Likewise, he says he won't accept any tax code improvements unless the "savings" generated are used to bolster his spending plans. They name streets after people like him: One Way.

    "Washington is at the root of all the problems with which the nation is faced" so saith the Anointed One. He makes it sound as though he is the ultimate outsider campaigning for Prez.

    I've got news for him. When you dictate when and where AF-1 flies (at approximately $180K/flight hour), you are not an "outsider". When you fly AF-1 all over creation adding tons and tons of carbon to the atmosphere and no one says anything about it, you are not an outsider. When you can preach against global warming with your "We've got to protect the environment for the middle class" speech for the umpteenth time and still get away with it, you are not an outsider. When you wife is allowed to take a whole group of friends to Europe (or anywhere else for that matter) in USAF aircraft, you are not an outsider. When you can take a USAF aircraft to NY on a "date", you are not an outsider. When you are able to sign Executive Orders telling your troops to ignore legislation you don't like (and they do it), you are not an outsider. When you are able to turn AF-1 into a shuttle between Washington and where ever you want to go to deliver a speech in front of carefully selected groups of people, you are not an outsider. Oh, and by the way; the $180K/AF-1 flight hour does not count all the ancillary aircraft, Secret Service contingent, etc. which "go along"when AF-1 goes somewhere.

    Speaking of carefully selected people as a backdrop, has anyone besides me noticed that in several of the Anointed One's speeches this last week (week of 7/21) black faces were noticeable by their absence. In at least one speech, there they were again. I suppose it depends on what the Anointed One is "peddling" that day. Or maybe just a coincidence??.... Of course... Coincidence... Surely the backgrounds are not "staged"..

    What is truly a scandal is the fact that there are a lot of folks who still believe what this charlatan preaches. Many people of the conservative persuasion refer to then as know-nothings. I believe those conservatives are wrong. The people who accept everything the Anointed One says "know" a lot. They :"know" everything he told them, and they "know" it's all true - the real facts not withstanding. Snake oil, anyone?? Hmmm...

    It is difficult to believe that someone could get away with not telling the truth as frequently and for as long as this charlatan has, but he has. It is hard to believe that he is able to do it and still sleep at night. Telling plausible lies (as Thomas Sowell would call them) seems to work. Of course, it takes a lot of practice (and you need pretty good speech writers) to be able to pull it off with the regularity that the Anointed One does. Or maybe he has been doing it and getting away with it for so long that he no longer recognizes the truth - or the value of honesty. Hillary is also pretty good at it, but doesn't have it down as well as the Anointed One. She most often does a "disappearing act" when there are tough questions on the table instead of facing the music. Surely a partial explanation of why she was the most traveled Secretary of State ever.. Hmmm...

    Speaking of Hillary, I was a bit surprised that even though she doesn't seem to have spent much time in NY, she picked up one of the fairly commonly used NY strategies for handling "awkward" situations (like being questioned about Benghazi). That would be: When in doubt, Attack!! Case in point: her animated "What difference does it make??" ploy during her congressional hearing. What difference does it make, indeed.. It makes a lot of difference. We lost four patriotic Americans in an attack the administration tried to "disguise" as something it definitely was not - and is now describing as a minor irritation stirred up by the Reps. Honesty and Integrity seem to be concepts that are entirely foreign to the Anointed One and his former Secretary of State..
