Far left NC Atty Gen. Jeff Jackson puts NC in support of anchor baby scam in court | Eastern North Carolina Now

uses nc taxpayer dollars to boost far left's attempt to save anchor baby scam

ENCNow

In November, North Carolina elected a state Attorney General even farther to the left than Josh Stein, who was already pretty darn far to the left.  His name is Jeff Jackson and he got off to a quick start abusing his office to push the far left agenda.  As an amnesty whore for illegal aliens, Jackson has signed North Carolina and its taxpayers up for suing the Trump administration over Trump's efforts to end the anchor baby scam.  He has joined a number of leftwing states and organizations and spending our taxpayer money to do it.

For years, there has been an interpretation of the 14th amendment that claims anyone born in the US is a US citizen regardless of who the parents are.  Thus illegal aliens have "anchor babies" who they claim are US citizens because they were born on US soil to make it less likely that they themselves will be deported.  However, citizenship by birth is only afforded to babies whose parents "are subject to the jurisdiction" of the US, which there is a strong argument that illegal aliens are NOT. The Supreme Court has previously ruled that American Indians were not subject to the jurisdiction of the US under the 14th amendment, and there had to be special legislation passed to make them American citizens.

Most countries of the world do NOT make anyone who happens to be born in their country an automatic citizen.  Whether or not they become citizens by birth depends on the nationality of their parents.  A proper interpretation of our 14th Amendment would align the US with most other countries on this issue.  That is what this despicable shyster Jeff Jackson is spending our taxpayer money to fight against.

What makes it worse is that the legislature has specifically prohibited the use of North Carolina taxpayer money for such ideological lawsuits.  Jeff Jackson is defying North Carolina law by participating in this lawsuit.  He should be impeached and removed from office for that.  We do not need a scoflaw who thinks he is above the law sitting in our Attorney General's office.

Meanwhile, a new poll of American voters by the UK's largest circulation daily newspaper, the Daily Mail of London found that Americans support the end of birthright citizenship by 48% to 32%.

Senators Jacob Howards explanation of 14th amendment;

During the debates in the Senate on May 30, 1866, Howard explained the Citizenship Clause:

"This amendment which I have offered is simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons."

That poll on the American people's support for ending citizenship by birth alone shows that Jeff Jackass, err, Jackson is completely out of touch with citizens.

Our legislature specifically voted that none of our taxpayer money was to be used for these political lawsuits by the Attorney General, and he is brazenly defying our law in taking part in this lawsuit. He needs to be removed from office. We cannot have an AG who brazenly defies the law. Throw the bum OUT!

What is it with Democratic Socialist lawyers: Do they lose their patriotic zeal once elected, or are they always that way?

This birthright citizenship issue only relates to foreign citzens, not US citizens. The child of a US citizen is itself a US citizen due to the nationality of one or both of its parents, no matter where it is born. So why is this rotten state attorney general spending the money of US citizen taxpayers to go support the interests of foreign citizens? He is betraying the people who elected him.

The left in their misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution want to ignore the key phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof". There is no absolute birthright citizenship. If one looks at the legislative history of the 14th amendment, which is necessary to understand its meaning, it's authors specifically did NOT intend for the amendment to grant unlimited birthright citizenship.

I am sure this issue will end up in the Supreme Court, and I suspect that the majoriy there will not ignore the legislative history of the 14th amendment or that key phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof".
