Eisenhower's 1954 Operation Wetback showed mass deportation works | Eastern NC Now

President Trump has set out a goal to deport the estimated 11 million illegal aliens who are unlawfully living in the United States.  The left says it is not possible or will cost too much, but the success of the last mass deportation, Operation Wetback in 1954 during the Eisenhower administration shows that mass deportation works and is feasible.

In just a few months in 1954, 750 border patrol agents were able to deport 1.1 million illegal aliens.  Instead of just dumping them immediately over the border they were sent hundreds of miles into Mexico.  As the roundups started, many illegal http://siirays.aaps.gob.bo/ aliens decided to "self deport" by going home.  Operation Wetback had a continuing impact on illegal immigration by discouraging would =-be border crossers from coming.  Illegal border crossings dropped by 95% for years afterward.

In 2025, we have more illegal aliens present, but we also have more resources.  Instead of the 750 agents Eisenhower had available, President Trump has 21,000 at his disposal.  Technology today is also far more advanced to help locate the illegal aliens.  With his national emergency declared on our southern border, President Trump will also be able to use the military to help secure the border.
