Breaking and Entering Suspects Arrested in Pinetown after Search of Wooded Area | Eastern North Carolina Now

On Friday, January 24, 2025, at approximately 4:07 a.m. Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, located on North Boyd Rd. at NC 32 North in Pinetown in reference to a vehicle that was involved in a breaking and entering at a nearby residence.

    On Friday, January 24, 2025, at approximately 4:07 a.m. Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded to the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, located on North Boyd Rd. at NC 32 North in Pinetown in reference to a vehicle that was involved in a breaking and entering at a nearby residence.

    During the investigation, deputies learned that two suspects had traveled of foot between the victim's residence and the store. Deputies were able to track their footprints in the snow. Deputies located a third subject inside the suspect's vehicle, and he was taken into custody.

    Deputies conducted a search of the wooded area near the scene but were unable to locate the two suspects. Deputies were able to recover items believed to be stolen in the incident during the search. On January 24, 2025, at approximately 11:29 a.m. the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of the suspects entering the woods near Jefferson Rd. and North Boyd Rd. in Pinetown.

    Deputies and Detectives responded to the area, set up a perimeter, and began searching the section of woods where the suspects were last seen. Deputies and Detectives located the suspects in the woods and took them into custody. Additional property, believed to have been stolen during the initial incident was located.

    The following individuals were arrested and charged during the investigation:

    27-year-old Angel Hope-Nicole Bass of Bladenboro NC was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center on $27,500 secured bond for the following charges:

    (1) Count of Felony Breaking and Entering

    (1) Count of Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering

    (1) Order For Arrest for Failure to Appear on Probation Violation

    26-year-old Joshua Dean Johnson of Bladenboro NC was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center on $2,500 secured bond for the following charges:

    (1) Count of Felony Breaking and Entering

    (2) Count of Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering

    25-year-old John Wayne Cooper Jr of Elizabethtown NC was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center on $2,500 secured bond for the following charges:

    (1) Count of Felony Accessory After the Fact

On March 14, 2025, Detectives with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant, charging 35-year-old Robert Earl Blount III of Aurora NC with one Felony count of Burning of Jails or Prisons.
On March 12, 2025, at approximately 6:35 p.m. the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office 911 Center received a report of a fire in the Beaufort County Detention Center.

On February 12, 2025, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit conducted a follow up investigation on information received following an arrest made in Pitt County by the Greenville Regional Drug Task Force on January 16, 2025.
On January 28, 2025 at approximately 12:24 PM, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unresponsive person at 2048 Robersonville Rd. in Washington.
