Securing the border: Texas Nat'l Guard given power to arrest illegal aliens | Eastern NC Now

A new memorandum of agreement between ICE and the State of Texas adds 3,000 Texas National Guardsmen to those patrolling the border to stop illegal aliens from crossing into the US.  The memorandum grants authority to soldiers of the Texas National Guard to arrest and detain illegal aliens who are found in Texas.

Texas has been engaged in defending the border against illegal aliens.  It has built sections of border wall at state expense, as well as erected floating barriers in the Rio Grande River.  This new authority will let it go a step further.

President Trump has already announced the deployment of active duty military personnel to help guard the border against illegal aliens.  Many European countries have recently used their military for similar purposes.

Meanwhile, illegal aliens marched in the streets against enforcement of our immigration laws, carrying Mexican flags and chanting "Mexico, Mexico, Mexico."  That looks at lot more like an effort at Reconquista than it does assimilation.

In the US Senate, a bill has been introduced to allow victims of crimes by illegal aliens to sue sanctuary cities or states that have harbored the illegal alien.
