Gallup poll: news media has lowest level of trust since they started polling it | Eastern NC Now

lowest in 50 years

ENCNow

American news media has the lowest level of trust among the American people in the Gallup poll since Gallup started polling that question 50 years ago.  Only 18% of Americans have a "great deal of trust" in the media and only 13% have "a fair amount of trust" .  However 33% have "not very much trust" in the media and 36% have "none at all". Between television and print media, the trust is even lower on the television side. Further, most of those who have trust in the media are largely Democrats, not Republicans or independents.  The age group with the lowest amount of trust in the media is the 18-25 age group.  Trust in media has fallen faster than any other institution.

The most trusted institutions in America are, in order, small business, the military, and the police.  However, trust in the criminal justice system has fallen, and more distrust it than trust it.  Public schools also show more distrust than trust.
