Theft in Chocowinity Area Solved | Eastern NC Now

Between August 17, 2013 and August 19, 2013, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of break-ins of out-buildings and vehicles in the areas of Old New Bern Road, Carawan Road, West Barr Road, and Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity.

News Release:

    Between August 17, 2013 and August 19, 2013, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of break-ins of out-buildings and vehicles in the areas of Old New Bern Road, Carawan Road, West Barr Road, and Nelson Farm Road in Chocowinity. Deputies responded the area and began an investigation. Investigators conducted interviews and collected evidence. With assistance from NC Division of Community Corrections/Probation and Parole Officers, Investigators conducted a warrantless search at a residence on Victory Lane in Chocowinity. Stolen property was located in the residence and two suspects were taken into custody.

    Investigator Scott Williams applied for and obtained warrants charging Christopher James Trivett, age 20, of Victory Lane in Chocowinity and David Ray Brinkley Jr., age 19, of Highway 33 East in Blounts Creek with two (2) counts each of Felonious Breaking and Entering and two (2) counts each of Larceny after Breaking and Entering. They were taken before Magistrate Jasper Mills where Trivett was held on a $25,000.00 secured bond and Brinkley was held on a $4,000.00 secured bond.

    The investigation continued and Investigator Scott Williams later applied for additional warrants charging Trivett and Brinkley with twelve (12) counts each of Breaking and Entering (more)a Motor Vehicle and nine (9) counts each of Misdemeanor Larceny. The warrants were served at the Lenior County Detention Center where the defendants are being held. Trivett received an additional $50,000.00 secured bond and Brinkley an additional $30,000.00 secured bond.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, the Beaufort County Grand Jury returned a True Bill of Indictment against 24-year-old Brady O’Neil Daniels of Wallace, NC, charging him with the murder of Billy Joe Bell in 2023.
On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call in a wooded area near Pamlico Plantation in Washington NC.
In the past month, Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Patrol and K9 Division have arrested 10 people in the county on felony drug charges.
On December 12, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 27-year-old Nikkopenia Terra Echevarria of Washington, NC on multiple felony drug charges.
Beaufort County District Attorney Thomas D. Anglim disclosed that Ryan Austin Stalls was convicted of two counts attempted murder and one count of attempted first degree ex offense and first-degree kidnapping following a guilty plea in Beaufort County on December 9, 2025.
On December 22, 2025, Deputies from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Aurora/Richlands area for a report of a foul odor coming from inside a rental property where a tenant had previously moved out.
On December 5, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested 39-year-old, Arnold Gerard Whitney of Belhaven, NC on multiple drug and weapon charges.
On Tuesday December 9th, 2025, 33-year-old Ryan Austin Stalls pled guilty in Beaufort County Superior Court to the following charges:

On January 27, 2025 Washington Police Department officers and Washington Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the area of Bonner Street and E. Martin Luther King Jr. Street in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash.
During the past month, members from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Patrol Division and K9 Unit have charged seven people in the county on felony drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office needs your help locating a wanted person. On October 27, 2025, 40-year-old Givon Montrell Hodges of Washington, NC left Superior Court in Beaufort County and failed to return.
On April 25, 2024, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jaleza Aneice Alexander on multiple drug charges.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received reports of multiple vehicle break-ins between December 6 th and December 9 th in the areas of Turkey Trot Rd., South Asbury Church Rd. and Magnolia School Rd. in Washington.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from concerned parents regarding a past incident that occurred at Bath Elementary School. I would like to assure the public that there is no current threat of school violence.
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence at 739 Cherry Rd, Washington NC for a 911 call reporting a male subject being shot.
On Sunday, September 21, 2025 at approximately 1900 hours, Washington Police Department units were dispatched to the 600 block of West 9th Street in reference to a possible shooting in progress.
On December 16 th the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Response Team along with officers from the Washington Police Department joined forces to arrest a subject wanted in Beaufort and Pitt County for ten outstanding warrants that included multiple felony charges.
