Ministry of Truth? Germany to go full Orwell under new Fuehrer Friedrich Merz | Eastern NC Now

CDU / SPD regime to ban "lies"

ENCNow

The Labour government in the UK invoking "thought crimes" right out of the pages of George Orwell's distopian novel of a future totalitarian state "1984" led Elon Musk to urge them to "make Orwell fiction again.".  Now, hard on their heels comes Germany, where the new coaltion says it intends to ban "lies".  So who determines what is true? The official government narrative? The elite media's narrative? A government "Ministry of Truth" as in Orwell's novel?

Germany already has dangerously totalitarian laws where a citizen can be heavily fined or even jailed for saying something derogatory about a politician.  The Minister of Internal Affairs from the Social Democrats in the last government tried to shut down a magazine she did not like with dozens of masked storm troopers raiding its office for a media spectacle, only to have the courts reverse her move and restore the free speech of the magazine.  But that did not stop her from heavily fining an online publication for criticizing her move against the magazine.

The way they are goosestepping over personal freedom, Merz might as well declare himself Fuehrer of a Fouth Reich.  No wonder disgusted members of his party are abandoning it in droves.

This is the same crap Biden tried to pull here in the US, but it has gotten reversed in its earlier stages.  Germany is on the verge of losing its status as a free and democratic country.
