NC Court of Appeals orders examination of 65K votes in Supreme Court race | Eastern NC Now

registrations did not meet federal HAVA requirements

ENCNow

The razor thin election of radical far left activist Allison Riggs to the NC Supreme Court has taken another turn.  The North Carolina Court of Appeals has ordered that 65,000 questionable voter registrations be examined to determine if they should have voted and if they should not, to disqualify their votes.  Most of them are voters whose registrations lack complete information that is required by the federal Help America Vote Act (HAVA) but Democrat controlled elections boards allowed them to register and vote anyway.  Some are overseas residents who had never lived in North Carolina but were allowed to register to vote here anyway.

Final results of the vote count showed radical leftist Allison Riggs leading conservative Court of Appeals Judge Jefferson Griffin by 734 votes.  Riggs entire career since law school before being appointed a judge by Roy Cooper was with the far left extremist "Southern Coalition for Social Justice" out of Durham, of which she was co-director.   Far left activist groups funded mass mailings attacking Griffin in the race.

Questionable voters will  have 15 days to respond and correct their voter registrations according to the court order.  If they do not, their ballots will be removed from the count.

Judicial ethics rules prohibit the official campaign committees of judges from raising most of the issues that other campaigns would. That is why Riggs had out of state leftist dark money funding her attack postcards on Griffin so her own campaign would not be held responsible. The NCGOP set up a Judicial Campaign Fund several cycles ago, which could have done the same thing to get the word out on Riggs and her radicalism. Being able to raise such issues that official judges campaign were barred from doing was one of the reasons that fund was set up. But for some reason in the 2024 Judicial campaign, that money was just turned over to the official judicial campaigns whose hands were tied on being able to use it to expose Riggs. That made absolutely no sense to me.

My wife and I got a bunch of those postcards trying to paint Judge Griffin as a liberal. We knew better and did not fall for them. However, the fact that Griffin underperformed the statewide GOP ticket shows that too many of our voters DID.

I looked up this radical group that Riggs helped run, and wonder why this was not brought up in Griffin's campaign. She is the sort of extreme left wing radical that we do not need as a judge.

This is great news! That pool of questionable voters is largely Democrat. The violations ruled on by the Court of Appeals have been pointed out repeatedly to the state Board of Elections, but its Democrat majority and Democrat staff refused to take any action to correct the errors before the election.
