no longer have to turn over to ICE but can make arrests themselves

ENCNow

Florida has become the first state to receive federal credentialing to allow its state troopers to arrest illegal aliens for being in the country illegally.   Governor deSantis urged other states to work with ICE to receive the same credentialing to speed up apprehension and deportation of illegal aliens.

Florida authorities recently worked with ICE on Operation Tidal Wave to arrest illegal alien.  That effort neted 1,100 illegal aliens for deportation.

Florida has also passed state laws making it a state criminal offense for an illegal alien to enter or reside in Florida.  That law is under attack before an Obama judge by the radical left ACLU.  Florida's Attorney General has said he is still enforcing that law in spite of an order by the Obama judge to "pause" enforcement.
